Kevin Owens has been out of action for a year, and there’s an update on his future.

The last match that former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens had in a WWE ring was over a year ago, on March 1, 2025, at Elimination Chamber, in an incredible Unsanctioned Match against his best friend/favorite opponent, Sami Zayn.

There were plans for Owens to face the legendary Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41, but sadly, Owens revealed that he had a serious neck injury and he was forced to step away from the ring.

According to Owens, he was injured during a match while doing something routine he had done thousands of times over his 20-year career as a pro wrestler.

It was reported in July 2025 that Owens underwent neck surgery, and the surgery was a success, with the hope that he would be able to wrestle again.

Sadly, wrestling fans know about many wrestlers who have had major neck surgeries that lead to a year-long layoff before coming back, but sometimes people don’t come back.

Regarding the Kevin Owens comeback, BodySlam+ is reporting that Kevin Owens will be re-evaluated this summer to see how he is doing. Another source claimed that WWE is hopeful that Owens will be able to return to the ring later in 2026.

Kevin Owens Will Be A Mentor On WWE LFG

Even though Kevin Owens won’t be able to wrestle until later in the year at best, WWE.com has confirmed that Owens will be a part of the third season of WWE LFG on A&E, which tapes in Orlando at the WWE Performance Center. Owens lives in the Orlando area.

A new season of “WWE LFG” debuts with an all-new format, spotlighting rising talent as they compete for the chance to become the next WWE Superstar. Those battling for a chance at WWE glory will be guided by legendary Superstars Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, Kevin Owens, Nattie and several special guests.

The new season begins on April 26th.
