Why Hall Of Famer Knew Danhausen Would Be Successful In WWE
A Hall of Famer knew that the “very evil” Danhausen would be very successful as a WWE superstar.
One of the most unique characters in WWE history is doing very well. After an unremarkable stint in AEW that saw him get “benched” for over a year, Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber in February.
That debut didn’t go that well, but since then, Danhausen has had a huge impact on WWE television. The face-painted wonder has had some funny backstage segments with various superstars, while also cursing many of them, including ESPN personalities like Stephen A. Smith.
A recent report claimed that CM Punk and Cody Rhodes led the way in terms of selling the most merchandise at WrestleMania 42, while Danhausen was in third place. The fact that Danhausen was in third place despite not being in a match at WrestleMania and only being in WWE for two months shows that the fans love the guy.
As for his in-ring career, Danhausen has an impressive 2-0 record with wins over Kit Wilson and The Miz.
After invading The Miz’s home and stealing a Slammy Award, Danhausen beat The Miz in under three minutes on the April 24th edition of SmackDown. When The Miz took control, he stomped on his rival. The Miz and Wilson posed together by the apron, so the “very evil” face painter sat up like The Undertaker, and Danhausen said, “You are cursed!” There was pyro that shot up near Miz and Kit, so Danhausen did a rollup on Miz for the pinfall win. Joe Tessitore called it a Quickhausen.
Booker T Believed In Danhausen Being A Great WWE Superstar
While there are likely some WWE fans who don’t like Danhausen’s schtick because it’s too silly, there are also plenty of people who believe characters like the “very evil” one are needed.
Booker T is a 2-time WWE Hall of Famer who spoke to Ryan Gaydos of Fox News about how he’s glad Danhausen is thriving in WWE.
“When Danhausen came in, everybody crapped on him. Everybody was like, ‘Man, what the heck is going on? This is not gonna work.’ Everybody except me. I’m literally the minority in this whole thing. I said, ‘Look, guys, I don’t know what everybody is thinking about, but when you take wrestlers and characters like Danhausen out of the wrestling business, you lose sight of what the wrestling business truly is.’
“We need the George ‘The Animal’ Steeles of this business. We need those characters that’s going to come out and bring the levity down and just make you feel a certain way and just fun for you. I said this guy is going to be a merchandising, you know, a marketing machine. He’s proved to be everything that I said he was gonna be.
So, for me, I love the Danhausen character being a part of WWE. I said, if I never did the spina-rooni, what would my career have been? If The Rock never did the People’s Elbow, where would have careers have gone without that? So, for me, I love having Danhausen as a part of WWE.”
John Cena is also a massive Danhausen fan after the two men shared a moment at WrestleMania 42, where they humiliated The Miz and Kit Wilson with the help of some little people who were happy to support Danhausen.
