Gunther is just hours from an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy. He has made an interesting confession before the premium live event.

Gunther’s “Career K*ller” gimmick established him as one of the most despicable heels in WWE. He retired Goldberg on the July 12, 2025, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena on the December 13, 2025, edition of SNME, and AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2026.

During his recent interview on First Take, Gunther was asked which among the three was his favorite. He mentioned that John Cena’s retirement had the biggest impact. The Ring General recalled how emotional everyone was, but admitted that he enjoyed every bit of the chaos he created.

I don’t think I’m fantasizing about anyone today, besides the WWE Championship. Obviously John Cena, I think, was the biggest impact. I think, yeah, a lot of sad people that night, and I just enjoyed it. I thrive off that, being the disruptor. That night, you should have been there. It felt so heavy to everyone. Everybody was teary-eyed before the event even happened because it meant so much to them, and I’m just in the middle of that, not caring about it and enjoying the chaos that I created. It was a very special night. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life. [H/T: Fightful]

Gunther could retire another WWE legend

As mentioned above, Gunther will be in action at Clash in Italy. Another name who will be part of the event is Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate “retired” following his loss against Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42; however, it turned out to be a ruse.

Lesnar is now set to battle Femi once again, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin. Amid speculation about Brock Lesnar’s in-ring future in WWE, Gunther was asked, during his interview with Rompipallone, if he would want to be the one to retire the former Universal Champion for good.

The Ring General replied in the affirmative, and added he would do it if given the chance.

“Yeah, if I get the chance, of course I’ll do it. Who would turn it down?”

It will be interesting to see if WWE pulls the trigger on a Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther match.
