GUNTHER To Defend Intercontinental Title At Money In The Bank

There will be an Intercontinental Championship match at Money in the Bank as GUNTHER looks to continue his incredible reign.

GUNTHER has held the WWE Intercontinental Title for more than one year. If the title reign goes into September then he could surpass the Honky Tonk Man’s record for the longest IC Title reign of all time.

Before the Intercontinental Champion can break the record, he has to deal with a new opponent at Money in the Bank: Matt Riddle.

For the past month, GUNTHER and Riddle have had issues in various segments and matches. Riddle “injured” Giovanni Vinci of the Imperium group in a backstage setting.

Matt Riddle also beat Ludwig Kaiser on last week’s Raw. However, after the match, GUNTHER and Kaiser attacked Riddle including an attack that saw the dominant IC Champion stomp on the lower left leg of Riddle.

On the June 26th edition of Raw, they showed an interview with Riddle from earlier in the day when he challenged GUNTHER for the IC Title at Money in the Bank. During the show, Kaiser and GUNTHER interrupted a Riddle interview with another cheap attack. At that point, GUNTHER accepted Riddle’s challenge.
