Gable Steveson’s WWE Debut Ends In Controversy

Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson finally made his in-ring WWE debut but it ended in controversial fashion.

The Great American Bash saw Gable Steveson finally compete in a WWE ring for the first time ever as he took on Baron Corbin.

Steveson was not well received by the Texas crowd who surprisingly threw their support behind Baron Corbin. And if the crowd were not happy with Gable Steveson, they were even more incensed by the finish of the match which saw both men counted out as they brawled on the floor.

After the bout, the fight continued with Gable Steveson launching Corbin with a huge suplex through the ringside barricade to stand tall.

The night began with a big eight-person tag team match on the kick-off show as Dragon Lee, Nathan Frazer, Valentina Feroz, and Yulisa Leon defeated Meta-Four.

The main show began with Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship from Gallus. It was a successful night for former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez who defeated Blair Davenport in a Weapons Wild match.

Dominik Mysterio has plenty of help from Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley as he retained the North American Championship against Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali. Tiffany Stratton held on to the NXT Women’s Championship when Andre Chase was forced to throw in the towel on behalf of Thea Hail when she simply would not submit to the champion.

In the night’s main event, Ilja Dragunov failed to dethrone Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship in a title match that is sure to be talked about for quite some time.

What does the future hold for Gable Steveson?

A recent report suggests that those within WWE still don’t know exactly what the future holds for Gable Steveson with the star believed to want another tilt at the Olympics in 2024 and a chance to win the NCAA Championship once again.

However, given his outing with Corbin ended in such a turbulent fashion, it looks like he could be getting in the WWE ring again sooner rather than later.

Following the debut match, it is said that no one is talking about Steveson at the moment.
