Rhea Ripley Match Still Expected At WWE SummerSlam

Rhea Ripley

There is no official match announcement yet, but Rhea Ripley is still expected to be a big part of WWE SummerSlam.

The next major WWE Premium Live Event for the main roster is SummerSlam, which is just over one week away on Saturday, August 5th in Detroit.

Currently, there are seven matches that are official for this year’s SummerSlam event.

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso
  • WWE Women’s Championship – Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair
  • World Heavyweight Championship – Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor
  • Intercontinental Championship – Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler
  • Logan Paul vs. Ricochet

While not official yet, Becky Lynch is expected to face Trish Stratus at SummerSlam as well since Lynch beat Zoey Stark this past Monday on Raw. That has not been announced officially yet, but is very likely to be on the show.

A fourth women’s match that is also likely will see Rhea Ripley defend the Women’s World Title against Raquel Rodriguez.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reports that “as of last word, it was still on the show, although they are doing a knee injury angle with Rodriguez.”

What Did Rhea Ripley Do To Raquel Rodriguez?

On the July 17th edition of Raw, Raquel Rodriguez was set to defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Liv Morgan. During a backstage interview, Rhea Ripley confronted Raquel and when they got into a fight, Ripley kicked Raquel in the front of the left knee. Raquel still wrestled in the match, but the knee affected her so much that Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville were able to isolate Morgan enough to beat her to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

This past Monday on Raw, Rhea Ripley destroyed Liv Morgan with a steel chair due to Morgan having a legitimate shoulder injury. It is likely that Raquel Rodriguez will come back as soon as Monday’s Raw for revenge on Ripley for taking out Raquel’s friend Liv.

This Monday’s Raw on July 31st is the final Raw before SummerSlam, so if WWE wants the match on the show then they will need to set up the angle on Raw most likely.
