A former WWE star recently revealed an awkward encounter he had with Stephanie McMahon.

Rico worked for the WWE between 2002 and 2004. During this time, he was able to win the Tag Team Titles twice. Rico was one of the most entertaining acts on the roster. However, he was never considered a top star in the promotion.

Rico portrayed the role of a homose**al stylist of Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo. He was able to get over with the fans despite the controversial nature of his character. Despite being an on-screen stylist, Rico also competed in the ring against some big names like Rikishi.

Rico recalled what Stephanie McMahon told him before one of his matches

During an interview on Stylin’ The Podcast on the Masters of Wrestling YouTube channel, Rico recalled when he was set to compete in a match against Rikishi in Australia. His match was the opening bout of the night, and Stephanie McMahon ran into him before his entrance. When Stephanie McMahon asked him if he was nervous, Rico lied and told her he was fine. He then recalled Stephanie McMahon telling him not to mess up the match, which made him more nervous. He also highlighted the importance of the first and last matches on the card.

“The opening match is not the bottom of the ladder. Okay, I was told by Stephanie McMahon, myself, when we were in Australia, and this is the first time I realized how much number one and the main event are in a program. Because it is a program for sports entertainment. It’s a show. And finally, Stephanie came up to me. We’re in Australia, almost 60,000 people. And I’m the first match with Rikishi in a kiss my a** match. I know a lot of you have heard it, but I got to say it again to make my point later. And I’m, I’m at the curtain because I’m getting introduced first and I’m rocking, and I’m rocking. I’m thinking over the match, you know, this and that. My ADD is in full speed. And then all of a sudden, Stephanie comes up. Hey, Rico, get back on the normal. I’m normal. Yes, how are you doing? She goes, Oh, are you okay? Oh, I’m fine. I’m fine. Yeah. You nervous? Oh no. And my nose should have grown. But it didn’t. I said, no, no, I’m good. I got the match. She goes, okay, you’re first up. Have a good match. And I went, thank you. And she turned around after she took a couple of steps and she turns around and goes, don’t f**k it up. And then turns around and walks away. And I’m like, Oh my God. Because the first match and the last match is what gets the crowd.”

Rikishi ended up defeating Rico in the match.
