Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Stephanie McMahon’s WWE relationship was not necessarily viewed in a positive light by everyone backstage.

Levesque and McMahon began dating in 2000, which reportedly led to the collapse of Levesque’s real-life romance with DX stablemate Chyna.

The couple has been together ever since, getting married in October 2003, and has three daughters.

Maven, who was on the WWE roster when Triple H was an active talent, has spoken positively about the current WWE Chief Content Officer in the past. However, he has also been critical of him a lot of times.

During one of his initial podcast episodes, Maven recollected how Levesque was the one to give him his gear when Maven’s kit had not arrived. He also then spoke about the times when he witnessed a change in Levesque’s attitude when his backstage power grew due to his relationship with Stephanie.

While speaking on a recent episode, he claimed that many wrestlers at the time saw Triple H get close to Vince McMahon’s inner circle. It naturally resulted in them questioning his relationship with Stephanie.

Maven made it clear that he was not there to judge whether there was actual love between the couple, but he stated that the situation propelled Levesque to new heights, calling it “convenient.”

But guys knew, guys felt, and guys would talk about how Triple H was meandering his way into Vince’s good graces. Guys would constantly question his relationship with Steph. And I’m never going to be the determining factor of love, whether it does or does not exist. It’s not my job. But I do know the definition of the word convenience. And that was a convenient relationship for Hunter. What I do know is Vince McMahon owned the WWE and Stephanie’s placement at her father’s side made it mighty convenient for Triple H. Maven Blames Triple H For Lack Of Push In WWE

Other than his relationship with Stephanie McMahon, Triple H is also notorious for his ‘reign of terror,’ which fans believe lasted from 2002 to 2005.

During this period, Paul Levesque crushed several challengers that were destined for greatness, and as a result, hurt their position in WWE.

Maven, who was on the company’s roster at the time, blamed him for his push being limited. He accused Triple H of shutting down the discussion every time Maven’s name was brought up during team meetings.

I didn’t know this during my time in the WWE, but I would have it confirmed years after my wrestling career had ended from someone who was actually in those production meetings, someone who went to bat for me that every time my name was brought up, it was quickly squashed back down. And who was the one doing the squashing?

It was none other than Triple H. If people thought, ‘Hey, here’s a good idea. Here’s a good direction that we can send Maven on. Here’s something that we think he can find success doing.’ It would quickly be diminished. ‘Nah, he’s not ready. He’s not there yet. He needs a little bit more time, a little bit more seasoning.’
