This former WWE Diva recently spoke about her experience with WWE Legend Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is a beloved WWE Legend. The Heartbreak Kid has legions of fans and has one of the most storied careers in wrestling history.

Michaels was also a controversial figure in the 1990s, when he was infamous for being arrogant, cocky, and rude. He was also cited by many as being difficult to work with.

However, at the turn of the century, after returning to WWE from a back injury,  Michaels embraced Christianity and became a changed man. He attempted to atone for many of his past sins and reconciled with the people he had given trouble to with his antics.

This second stint in WWE gave him even more success than before and earned him respect from his peers. However, not everything was perfect for HBK.

Former WWE Diva Shelly Martinez Recalls Backstage Interaction with Shawn Michaels

Shelly Martinez recently spoke about Shawin Michaels on her Too Much Information podcast. Martinez, who went by the name Ariel, recalled an awkward incident with Michaels (which she claims was one among many instances of him being rude to her) when she was headed to a meeting and had to cross Triple H and Shawn Michaels, who were in the catering area.

Martinez claims that while Triple H greeted her and shook her hand, Michaels wouldn’t and strangely ignored her.

So they were shaking everyone’s hand because it was like, you know, the beginning of the day, whatever. So I went and shook Triple H’s hand. He was always really nice to me. And then when I went to shake Shawn Michaels’s hand, he grabbed his chapstick out and then turned his back to me and started putting his chapstick on. And I just looked at him, and when I was walking away loudly, I was like, ‘Ew, I worship the same God as you, I can’t believe you.’ And I just like started going off.

Martinez signed with WWE in 2005 and was a part of its developmental before being called up to the promotion’s ECW brand, where she accompanied Kevin Thorn to the ring during his matches.

Another famous instance of HBK’s unprofessional behavior is his feud with Hulk Hogan that went wrong.

Shawn punished the Hulkster for turning down his pitch of three matches with Hogan by comically overselling every one of Hogan’s moves in their match at SummerSlam 2005.

A clip of the infamous bout resurfaced on X recently, and former WWE referee Mike Chioda, who officiated the match, shared his honest thoughts. He said it was wrong of Shawn Michaels to disrespect Hogan like that, and accused HBK of “not being professional at the time”.
