Ex-Champion Says He’s Done With WWE
A former champion in WWE says he has no interest in ever returning to the company.
Enzo Amore became a force in WWE when he became a tag team with Big Cass. Even though Enzo & Cass were a popular act in NXT and on the main roster, they surprisingly never won the NXT or main roster Tag Team Titles together.
It was an easy group to like since Enzo had the gift of gab and an ability to cut entertaining promos while also shouting catchphrases.
As a singles wrestler, Enzo was a two-time Cruiserweight Champion. Even though his in-ring skills weren’t necessarily the best, Enzo had a strong personality, and it was clear that he became a top star in the cruiserweight division because of his personality.
In January 2018, WWE fired Enzo due to a sexual assault investigation against him after a woman claimed Enzo raped her in October 2017. It was revealed that WWE fired him because he failed to inform the company about the investigation. A friend of the accuser had proof that the allegations had been falsified.
By May 2018, the Phoenix Police Department had closed the case due to insufficient evidence.
Since then, the former Enzo Amore has used the name nZo and Real1 in pro wrestling but hasn’t competed for major promotions outside of WWE.
Enzo Amore Doesn’t Need To Work For WWE Again
During a recent interview with Tim Rivera, the former Cruiserweight Champion made it clear that he’s not interested in a WWE return.
“I don’t need to do this sh*t again. If God puts it in my, you know, future—like, I didn’t say I would take it. Right now I got this, okay? I work for f****** Fourth Rope, bro. I work for Westside Gunn, okay? I got my s*** straight. Like, my s*** is tight, bro. Like, we doing all right.”
As the discussion continued, Enzo reflected on his time in WWE development and on NXT from 2012 until his main roster call up in 2016.
“I walk through the f****** door, you got Roman Reigns, The Shield, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins, right? They’re staring me right in the face. Kevin Owens comes into the place after me and Cass had already became babyfaces. You got Sami Zayn, who was El Generico before he came in.
You got PAC, who became Neville when he came in. Enzo and Cass are already a tag team and we were the guys that came together in NXT, that were taught by WWE how to put on the product they wanted to see on the screen. And I saw a lot of people come and go.”
Regarding Big Cass, he works for AEW as Big Bill and is a former Tag Team Champion with the company, although he isn’t being featured much on television now.
