Eva Marie Reveals What May Have Led To WWE Firing
Former WWE star Eva Marie got candid about leaving the company in a recent podcast appearance.
Marie left WWE in 2017 after beginning to pursue other interests.
In her first run with the company from 2013 onwards, Eva Marie was being pushed to the top of the women’s roster on the SmackDown brand, but received a negative reaction from audiences.
Marie said in a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast that the timing was off between her and WWE. The company had allowed her to work on a film, which, in hindsight, Marie feels affected her role in WWE.
It was actually odd. I still don’t know exactly. The timing of it was. I mean, I got my first movie, so that’s also kind of what happened, is I stepped away to do that. Inconceivable, you can still watch it on Netflix.
Had an amazing time on that film. So when I left for that I kind of still have a feeling of like, if I didn’t leave for that movie, maybe I would still be in the company, because I think that probably was as much as they gave me their blessing. I’m sure it hurt me internally in some capacity.
Former WWE Star Eva Marie Opens Up About Her Controversial Segment
In 2016, Eva Marie tried a new gimmick.
She would appear for a match but manage to avoid wrestling in the ring by giving an excuse of pain, injury, etc., before the match commenced. In one such instance, she suffered a wardrobe malfunction while posing in the ring, causing the referee to cancel the match.
In the same interview, Eva Marie addressed a controversial segment she had with Becky Lynch on WWE SmackDown in August 2016. She revealed that management had taken precautions while executing the segment, as she would have been completely covered in tape for the spot.
