Drew McIntyre Mocks Wayne Rooney At WWE Live Event

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre had harsh words for legendary soccer star Wayne Rooney at a recent WWE Live Event.

The company’s current level of popularity was clearly evidence by the success of the recent UK tour with the highlight seeing a sell out crowd of 16,410 pack into London’s o2 Arena.

A number of celebrities were in attendance for the event headlined by Cody Rhodes’ successful Undisputed WWE Championship defence against Shinsuke Nakamura, including former Manchester Utd striker Rooney and former WBA, IBF and WBO Heavyweight Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua.

The event opened with a singles bout between ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso and former World Heavyweight Champion, Drew McIntyre.

‘The Scottish Warrior’ addressed the crowd ahead of the contest before spotting Rooney sitting ringside with his children. McIntyre initially appeared to praise the man who netted on 53 occasions for England, before aiming a typically harsh remark at the 38 year-old:

“Speaking of British legends… Is that Wayne Rooney?

‘I’ve got to give this man his props, from one British legend to another, you were the freaking man in your day.

‘But, aren’t we the same age? What the hell happened to you?!'”

It isn’t the first time Rooney has drawn attention at a WWE event. The former Birmingham City Head Coach also hit the headlines previously after an altercation with Wade Barrett on the 9th November 2015 edition of Raw.

Drew McIntyre Has Words Of Encouragement For Released WWE Star

Drew McIntyre is renowned for his villainous persona and brutal in-ring style but recently showed his softer side following the WWE release of a former tag team partner.

McIntyre took to social media site X to offer words of encouragement to former 3MB stable mate Jinder Mahal after the former WWE Champion was released by WWE on 19th April.
