Drew McIntyre has made his intentions known as far as what match he wants to have at WrestleMania 39 this coming April.

During the February 24th edition of Smackdown, the Imperium trio consisting of Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci picked up big win in a six-man tag team match against Braun Strowman, Ricochet & Madcap Moss. GUNTHER pinned Moss to win the match for his team.

There was also something else that got people talking during the six-man tag team match when Drew McIntyre showed up to watch the match from the aisle. GUNTHER was a bit distracted by it, but Drew was only there to scout, not cause trouble.

On the Smackdown LowDown show, Drew was interviewed by Megan Morant, who asked about his intentions. Drew kept it short and sweet:

It’s five weeks till WrestleMania. I want GUNTHER and I want the Intercontinental Championship.

WrestleMania 39 takes place in five weeks today starting on Saturday, April 1st and concluding on Sunday, April 2nd. At this point, nothing has been announced for the Intercontinental Championship held by GUNTHER.

There have been rumors about the possible Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania 39 with GUNTHER possibly defending against McIntyre and his best friend Sheamus. Whether it’s a singles match, a triple threat, or something else is unknown at this point.

McIntyre is no stranger to the IC Title although it’s been a long time since he won it at TLC 2009 and held it for 161 days. That was over 13 years ago.

Since then, Drew McIntyre has also come a long way and is a former two-time WWE Champion as well.

As for GUNTHER, he has held the Intercontinental for over eight months since winning it in June 2022. GUNTHER’s match with Sheamus at Clash at the Castle last September was a WWE Match of the Year contender for many people. Drew McIntyre has yet to challenge GUNTHER for the IC Title in a televised match.
