Drew McIntyre Says “The Future Doesn’t Matter”

Drew McIntyre is back in WWE after he ended his absence from the company at Money In The Bank but questions about his future remain.

Prior to his Money In The Bank appearance, McIntyre last appeared in WWE at WrestleMania 39 where he competed in a losing effort against GUNTHER and Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship. During his time away from the ring, speculation mounted that McIntyre could be considering his options outside the company and was said to be uncertain about WWE’s creative plans for him.

Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Drew McIntyre apologized to fans for missing shows before referencing the rumors surrounding his uncertain future in WWE but says for now the future is not important:

“I just want to apologize for everybody, that I missed my dates, I missed the towns. It’s not like me, unless there’s a reason. Obviously, the rumor and innuendo is out there. What’s going on with Drew McIntyre? What’s going on with the future? The future doesn’t matter.

“What matters is the present, and presently, Drew McIntyre is back. If you’re heading to a WWE show and Drew McIntyre’s there, you know you’re gonna get 110%, and finally, I’m chasing that big moment with a title in front of live fans. So let’s make that happen finally.”

At the post-Money In The Bank press conference, Triple H discussed McIntyre’s absence from the company and put the Scottish star’s time away from the ring down to injury. With Drew McIntyre’s contract believed to expire early in 2024, it is still unknown if he’s actually signed a new deal with WWE to extend his stay.
