The future of Drew McIntyre in WWE is less than certain with a new report suggesting that his return to the company is based on issues with creative.

Drew McIntyre last appeared in a WWE ring back at WrestleMania 39 where he was part of a critically acclaimed Intercontinental Title match that also included Gunther and Sheamus. McIntyre then missed the April 7th of SmackDown due to a “health issue” and it remains uncertain when he will return to the ring.

The Scottish star has found great success in WWE since he returned for his second spell in the company but reports have suggested that cash and creative have left the star considering his future. McIntyre is believed to have around nine months left on his current WWE deal so there is plenty of time for the former WWE Champion to decide to stay put.

Now Dave Meltzer, writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has shed more light on McIntyre’s situation regarding it to be a “creative issue” over what WWE wants, what he wants, and when they can agree to it. It is also noted that should McIntyre request to leave at any point – something he is not believed to have done – WWE can extend his contract based on any time missed due to injury or other reasons.

Drew McIntyre was Raw’s overall fifth pick in the 2023 WWE Draft which could put him in line to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he returns to action.
