Dominik Mysterio Set For Major Title Match Outside WWE
Dominik Mysterio is the reigning AAA Mega Champion.
The self-proclaimed “King of the Luchadores” won the title by defeating El Hijo Del Vikingo at last year’s Worlds Collide event in September.
Since then, he has defended the championship a handful of times, the latest instance occurring on the May 11 episode of Monday Night Raw, where he defeated the “Original” El Grande Americano (Chad Gable).
WWE has already been promoting the upcoming Triplemania 34 event, which will be a two-nighter for the first time since its inception in 1993.
Night 1 of the show will take place on September 11 in Las Vegas. The action will then move to Mexico City on September 13, where the AAA Mega Championship will be on the line.
The announcement was made by AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. Mysterio also seemingly expects Dominik Mysterio to defend the championship before Triplemania, judging by his latest comments.
In a video shared by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, the WWE Hall of Famer praised the recently held Mask vs. Mask match between the two El Grande Americanos. In the end, the “Original” El Grande Americano was masked, who turned out to be Chad Gable.
While Rey did not confirm who the challenger for the AAA Mega Championship will be, it is being speculated that El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) may be first in line.

Dominik Mysterio Advances In King Of The Ring Tournament
Dominik Mysterio continues to register victories even when the odds are stacked against him.
A similar instance occurred on the latest SmackDown taping in Bologna, Italy, where he competed in a first-round 4-way match of the King of the Ring tournament.
“Dirty Dom” faced Trick Williams, Bron Breakker, and his former Judgment Day stablemate, Damian Priest.
At the beginning, Mysterio often found himself staring at the ceiling after being taken out by either of his opponents in the match. Later in the match, he found himself fighting against Priest and Williams on multiple occasions.
Breakker presented himself as the powerhouse and a dominant force. In what seemingly looked like an error, one-half of the World Tag Team Champions put Trick and himself through the commentator’s table by hitting a clothesline on him while jumping off the ring apron.
This allowed JD McDonagh and Liv Morgan to play their roles in the match, causing interference for Damian Priest, who found himself outnumbered.
Dominik Mysterio capitalized after Morgan hit a low blow on Priest. After hitting his former stablemate with a 619, the 29-year-old hit a Frog Splash for the victory.
In the semi-finals, Mysterio will face Oba Femi, who won his match on Raw by defeating Penta, Solo Sikoa, and Carmelo Hayes.
It remains to be seen what role the Judgment Day plays in helping Dominik Mysterio advance in the tournament, or whether The Ruler overcomes the odds and advances to the final.
