Dominik Mysterio Loses His Title At No Mercy

Dominik Mysterio NXT North American Title

Dominik Mysterio could face the wrath of mami after losing his championship.

Dirty Dominik Mysterio captured the NXT North American Championship back on the 18th of July edition of NXT television from former champion Wes Lee. Since then Mysterio has brought more eyes to the title by taking it to the main roster on Raw and SmackDown where he has defended it against the likes of Butch, Sami Zayn, and Dragon Lee.

Mysterio had been scheduled to defend his gold at No Mercy against Mustafa Ali but plans had to change when Ali was released from his WWE contract on the 21st of September. A four-way match to find a new contender for Mysterio was held on the 26th of September with Trick Williams overcoming Dragon Lee, Axiom, and Tyler Bate to book his place at No Mercy.

Dominik Mysterio loses chaotic match

At No Mercy, Dominik Mysterio and Trick Williams clashed with Dragon Lee acting as special referee which could have given the challenger the advantage given the ill-feeling between Lee and Mysterio. At one point Mysterio aimed a super kick at his opponent only to take out Lee instead.

Another referee entered the fray but also ended up getting taken out which left Mysterio trying to use his title belt to gain the upper hand. However, Williams hit him with a knee strike with Lee regaining his senses long enough to count the pinfall.

It was not such a good night for Williams’ long-time friend Carmelo Hayes as Hayes lost his NXT Championship to Ilja Dragunov. After that bout Hayes and Williams came across each other backstage and Hayes seemed to take a long, hard look at Williams’ new title belt.
