More Details Emerge On Ex-WWE Star Alberto Del Rio’s Arrest

Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio was arrested on April 6 in Mexico.

According to media reports, he was apprehended by the police and taken into custody on Monday, April 6, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, following a domestic dispute with his wife.

The local police responded to an emergency phone call and sprang into action upon arrival after they witnessed her being attacked.

A report by Milenio.com revealed that the female suffered injuries to her face and arms.

The 4-time former WWE Champion awaits a hearing from the State’s Attorney General’s Office. Social media posts show him in handcuffs following his recent arrest.

The woman, who suffered injuries to her face and arms, called 911 for police assistance. State Civil Guard officers arrived at the scene just as she was being attacked and found her with signs of violence, so they arrested the assailant.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí (FGE) to face the corresponding charges,” the report read.

This is not the first time that Alberto Del Rio has been arrested on charges of domestic violence. In 2020, he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, for allegedly sexually assaulting and battering his then-girlfriend.

He was also subject to several claims of domestic and physical abuse, including by former WWE and AEW star Saraya.

New Details Emerge On Ex-WWE Star’s Recent Arrest

On Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí confirmed that it had opened an investigation against ex-WWE star Alberto Del Rio.

According to the victim’s complaint, upon meeting Alberto [Rodriguez] inside a home in the Lomas del Tecnológico [neighborhood], an argument ensued that led the accused to commit various physical and verbal assaults against his partner.

After the arrest carried out by [State Civil Guard] agents, the accused was placed at the disposal of agents of the Public Ministry, who will be in charge of duly compiling the investigation file and presenting him before the judicial authority at the initial hearing, where he will have to answer for the acts he is accused of. Alberto Del Rio has been a hugely controversial figure in the wrestling world. During his tenure in WWE, he competed as a heel as well as a babyface.

In August 2014, he was fired from the company after getting into an altercation with an employee, who allegedly made a racist joke.

Del Rio had a slim chance of returning to his former employer through its acquisition of AAA Lucha Libre, where he was an active talent, in 2025.

However, the Stamford promotion had no interest in bringing him back on TV. He exited AAA shortly afterward and continued to work in smaller independent promotions.

According to Cagematch.net, his last appearance was on April 1 for Desastre Total Ultraviolento in Mexico, where he teamed up with Mascara Sagrada NG and Odiseo Mendoza to defeat Blaze, El Hijo del Fishman, and El Texano Jr. at Fiestas de Abril 2026.
