Details Behind Theory’s Shot At Brock Lesnar

Austin Theory gives a thumbs up

New Money In The Bank briefcase holder Theory has revealed that he had little time to prepare for a huge title match against Brock Lesnar.

Back in March 2022, Theory ended up with a huge opportunity to face ‘The Beast Incarnate’ after Brock Lesnar’s original opponent Bobby Lashley was unable to compete. The opponent for Lesnar was a closely guarded secret from the fans, with it only being confirmed when Theory’s music hit and he emerged through the curtain.

It was a shock for many that the former member of The Way was put in such a position, although context was given from the fact Lesnar had given Theory an F5 from the top of one of the pods during the Elimination Chamber match in Saudi Arabia the month before.

The match wasn’t a long affair, with an F5 enough for Brock Lesnar to pick up the victory and retain the WWE Championship.

A new report from Fightful Select discusses a conversation with Theory where he confirms that he was unaware that he would be in the match until the last moment. As well as the running order in the backstage area being listed as ‘Brock Lesnar vs. ______’, Theory was only told he would be involved in the contest around an hour before it actually took place.

The match would act as a conduit for Roman Reigns to attack ‘The Beast Incarnate’ using both a steel chair and the ring steps, furthering their feud going in to their championship unification match at WrestleMania 38, where ‘The Head Of The Table’ would walk away with both belts. Reigns is yet to be defeated for the belts.
