Dave Meltzer Gives WWE SummerSlam 2022 Ratings

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, SummerSlam 2022

Dave Meltzer has handed out his star ratings for WWE SummerSlam, and there are scores at both ends of the spectrum.

It was the dawn of a new era for WWE at ‘The Hottest Show Of The Summer’, as it was the first Premium Live Event without Vince McMahon at the forefront of the promotion.

For the first time Triple H would step in to the shoes of Head Of Creative for an event of this type, whilst Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan would be overseeing things from a boardroom level.

The show was received overall as a success by fans and critics, with many memorable moments coming out of Nissan Stadium.

The first match set the tone for the show with the return of Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai, although will also be remembered for the serious injury picked up by Becky Lynch. The action continued through with a notable performance from Logan Paul, whilst the addition of a tractor to the main event between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns is an image which will be burned in to the mind of fans for a long time.

As part of the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has revealed his ratings for all eight matches on the card.

There’s unsurprisingly a good review for the main event, whilst the first two matches on the card also received high praise. In contrast, there were low ratings for Liv Morgan’s SmackDown Women’s Championship defence against Ronda Rousey, and Bobby Lashley’s clash with Theory.

The full ratings are as follows:

  • Bianca Belair (c) vs. Becky Lynch ****
  • Logan Paul vs. The Miz ****
  • Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Theory *1/2
  • The Mysterios vs. Judgment Day ***1/2
  • Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin ***
  • The Usos (c) vs. The Street Profits ***1/2
  • Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey *
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Brock Lesnar ****1/2
