Darby Allin Exposes Disrespectful Locker Room Attitude In AEW
Darby Allin called out his AEW peers in a recent interview.
Known for his high-risk wrestling style, Allin minced no words when talking about his struggles as well as the mindset with which he steps into the ring.
While at it, he also took a shot at some of his fellow wrestlers, who he believes “treat wrestling like spring break.”
In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Darby Allin cited complacency as his biggest fear, claiming that he does not take his time in the business for granted.
Every time I make an entrance, I have a chip on my shoulder that I have to show everybody what I’m capable of, because I never want to get complacent. It’s my biggest fear. I watch these guys get somewhere and then start going through the motions.
When people in the locker room treat it like spring break, it (ticks) me off. I have to give everything to wrestling because wrestling changed my life, so I’m going to treat it with the respect it deserves.
Darby Allin: The Man Of Few Moves
During the interview, Darby Allin confessed that he was not someone who likes to perform many moves. In contrast, he prefers to do maximum damage with limited move sets.
He also cited hardcore legend Mick Foley as his inspiration, who pursued a similar approach during his matches.
I like to watch wrestling matches that really stand out without a lot of moves, because I’m not a fan of doing 100 big moves a match. It’s fun to see the emotion and how they carry themselves through a match without relying on big moves or big (false finishes). I just watch how they paced things back then. I’d rather sell and do my thing and have emotions.
On the January 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin made Pac of the Death Riders submit, thus achieving the unique feat of defeating every member of the faction.
