Darby Allin Reveals AEW Hiatus For Mount Everest Climb

Darby Allin

Darby Allin is set to take some time off.

Back in November, Darby Allin revealed he was planning to climb Mount Everest in early 2024. Although the star took a brief break to train for the expedition, he remained by Sting’s side right up to his retirement at Revolution.

At the event, Allin and Sting retained the World Tag Team Titles with an emotional win over The Young Bucks in a match that saw Sting’s sons join him in the ring, and take several insane bumps for a man of 64.

However, it wouldn’t be a Darby Allin match if he didn’t throw himself from something tall and for the special occasion he upped the ante. Allin jumped from a ladder in the ring to the outside onto a sheet of glass lying across a line of chairs only to find his intended target had been pulled out of the way.

Despite the death-defying stunt and being covered in glass, Allin played a role in the finish helping Sting end his AEW run undefeated.

During a brief appearance at the post-show media scrum, Allin assured fans and the assembled media he was fine.

“I wanted to come here to let people know I was still alive. I was in the middle of getting stitched up, but I wanted to show everybody that the doctors are on top of it, I’m still breathing. I feel fine, and as long as Flair, Steamboat, Sting, the Bucks, everybody else feels fine, then we’re beautiful,”

Darby Allin Cleared By Doctors

Allin added that he will be taking time off to climb Everest after being cleared by doctors.

“I talked to the doctors. They gave me a doctor’s note to climb Mount Everest. I leave on March 27,”

With Allin set to be absent, and Sting retired, it’s been announced that a tournament will be held to decide new AEW World Tag Team Champions.
