Dakota Kai Only Knew About WWE Return One Day Before

Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai has revealed that her return to WWE was only officially confirmed the day before it actually happened.

Under Triple H’s new regime in WWE, a number of stars who were released from their contracts have been brought back including the likes of Johnny Gargano, Karrion Kross and Scarlett.

The first of these returns, and one of the most surprising, was when Dakota Kai headed to the ring alongside Bayley and IYO SKY at SummerSlam 2022 to confront Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch.

Speaking with Today FM, Dakota Kai discussed how there had been some discussions, but there was nothing formally put in place until the day before the appearance.

I literally got told about all this a day before. There had been a few conversations, but nothing official. I didn’t even know if I wanted to do this anymore. It was such a whirlwind. Me walking out with Bayley and IYO [SKY], it was difficult for me to process that but it was cool.

Dakota Kai went on to talk about the atmosphere created by Triple H since he took over as Head Of Talent Relations and Head Of Creative, as well as how they got on well in NXT.

I think me and Hunter (Triple H) – our relationship from before when I was in NXT, he knows me and he knows what I am capable of and It’s safe to say he is a big reason why I am part of everything now. I can’t really speak to what it [WWE locker room] was like before because I was in NXT, but under Hunter in NXT, it was very cool and very relaxed. He took a lot of ideas on board creatively and he was very open to anything we had to offer.

The environment feels like that again under his control. It’s a very positive environment right now and I’m loving the spontaneity of anything can happen – we haven’t had that type of feeling in WWE for a while.

The DAMAGE CTRL combination of Dakota Kai, Bayley and IYO SKY are set to take on Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Bianca Belair at Clash At The Castle in Wales on 3rd September.
