Dakota Kai Reveals Bayley Wanted Stable A Few Years Ago

Dakota Kai has discussed the formation of Damage CTRL, and how Bayley has had plans in the works to build a stable like this for quite some time.

Following the Raw Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam 2022, Bayley made her long-awaited return to WWE and confronted Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. Whilst it had been speculated that IYO SKY would be moving from NXT to the main roster, perhaps the biggest surprise came when they were joined by a returning Dakota Kai.

Former NXT Women’s Champion Kai had been released by WWE in a raft of cuts on 29th April 2022, and became the first of an ever-growing list of stars to be brought back under Triple H’s new regime, including the likes of Braun Strowman, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae and most recently Bray Wyatt.

The team has already gone on to great success, already capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, whilst Bayley continues to act in somewhat of a new role as leader of the group.

In a discussion on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Dakota Kai opened up on the times in the past where Bayley had discussed the idea of bringing a faction together, including shortly before Kai was let go earlier in the year.

This idea of a stable has been something she brought up to me probably around the, shoot, it was a couple years, it was about two or three ago she first mentioned it to me. She said she wanted me to be a part of it back then. So, earlier this year, like before April, she obviously was out with an injury, but she wanted to come back with something different… She came to the [Performance Center] and we were taking pictures with the group of us that she wanted to suggest to be a part of this, and some promo footage as well.

Dakota Kai has also admitted that her return to WWE was only finalised the day before SummerSlam took place.
