Company Moves Event To Avoid Clash With John Cenas Retirement Show
John Cena’s impending retirement has caused some changes.
Four appearances and two matches are all that remain of John Cena’s WWE in-ring career.
On November 10, he’ll say goodbye to Boston before appearing at Madison Square Garden a week later. He’ll then move on to his final Survivor Series on November 29, where he’s expected to wrestle, before competing in his final match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington.
Although unconfirmed, it’s been suggested that Cena’s final two opponents will be Dominik Mysterio and former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
According to a recent report, “leading political figures” will be in attendance for Saturday Night’s Main Event, with an appearance from U.S. President Donald Trump still a possibility.
Booker T Wants To Honor John Cena
In a post on social media, Booker T announced that Reality of Wrestling’s traditional winter event will take place on December 20, instead of the 13th. He said he wants the “entire wrestling world” to have the chance to honor Cena.
“In honor of @JohnCena ’s final match taking place December 13th on Saturday Night’s Main Event, we at @TheOfficialROW have made the decision to move our annual winter event, #SubZero, to December 20th. Some moments in this business are bigger than any one show — and this is one of them. We want the entire wrestling world to come together to watch, reflect, and honor the greatest of all time as he takes his final bow.”
The pre-sale for Saturday Night’s Main Event in December began on October 15 with more than 57,000 fans queuing to land tickets. When set up for basketball, the Capital One Arena in Washington holds a little over 20,000 people.
