Colt Cabana’s Return To AEW Reportedly Noted By WWE

It seems like Colt Cabana’s return to AEW television may have caught the eye of those in WWE according to a new report.

On Dynamite in Baltimore Chris Jericho issued an open challenge to any former ROH Champion to face him for his ROH World Title. Much to the surprise of many, former two-time ROH Tag Team Champion Colt Cabana answered the call. This marked Cabana’s first match on AEW Dynamite since losing to Bryan Danielson in November 2021.

All of this has led to people making assumptions related to the man Cabana previously held the ROH Tag Team Championship with, his very much former friend CM Punk.

Rumours swirled in the lead-up to All Out that Punk’s presence in AEW was the main reason why Colt Cabana had been sidelined by the company given that the two men had a huge fallout that resulted in both men filing lawsuits against the other.

At the post-All Out media scrum, CM Punk’s initial anger seemed to stem from these rumours and he went on a tirade about Colt Cabana before turning his attention to The Young Bucks, and others which led to an alleged backstage fight.

The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega – who was also implicated in the fight – look set to return to the company following a suspension with vignettes featuring them airing on TV. The future of CM Punk looks less certain but the return of Colt Cabana could be a sign that Punk’s time in AEW is coming to an end.

WrestleVotes has noted that Cabana’s appearance on Dynamite has not gone unnoticed “in Stamford” – the home of WWE amid speculation that the company could make a play for CM Punk’s return.
