Major Spoiler Emerges For Cody Rhodes Vs. Drew McIntyre WWE Title Match
Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre are set to face off for The Scottish Psychopath’s title this coming Friday on SmackDown.
Drew McIntyre won the WWE championship from Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell Match on SmackDown in January this year.
McIntyre had smartly added a no-rematch clause if Rhodes were to lose, in a contract he had signed for the match with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
However, in the past few weeks, The American Nightmare has been trying to work his way up the ladder again to earn a title shot like McIntyre asked him to, but The Scottish Psychopath has thwarted his attempts, interfering and costing him the opportunity every single time.
McIntyre’s latest interference was at Elimination Chamber on Feb 28th, when his distraction allowed Randy Orton to RKO both McIntyre and Rhodes, pinning Rhodes to win.
Nick Aldis, who was fuming, confronted McIntyre backstage after the PLE went off air, and when security pulled them apart, Aldis appeared at the broadcast panel and announced a Title match between McIntyre and Rhodes on Friday, effectively dissolving the no-rematch clause.

Speaking on Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro revealed that the news in Cody Rhodes’ camp from early February has been that he would face Randy Orton and defend his title at WrestleMania.
I was told on February 2nd, straight up and explicitly, that the WWE Championship match — according to Cody’s camp — was Cody versus Randy Orton. I was explicitly told that. Cody’s camp was told as of early February that he was going to be getting a Randy Orton match.
Cody is a believer in that match and a believer in that program. We’ll see what they end up doing. We’ll see if they stick with that.
If this is the case, the WWE universe could see McIntyre lose his title to Cody Rhodes this Friday on SmackDown.
However, WWE has pivoted multiple times in recent weeks and months, and there’s no telling if they will stick to their original plan or change it.
