Cody Rhodes To Be Involved In NXT Great American Bash

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes revealed that he will have an interesting task at WWE’s upcoming NXT Great American Bash event.

While WWE Raw superstar Cody Rhodes is not part of the NXT brand, he revealed in an interview that he will lend his voice to the upcoming NXT Great American Bash event.

The next WWE Premium Live Event is NXT’s The Great American Bash taking place this Sunday, July 30th in Cedar Park, Texas. It’s a show headlined by Carmelo Hayes defending the NXT Championship against Ilja Dragunov while “Dirty” Dom Mysterio of The Judgment Day defends the NXT North American Title against Wes Lee & Mustafa Ali in a triple threat match.

During an appearance on the SI Media Podcast With Jimmy Traina, Cody Rhodes was talking about how busy he is and also revealed he’ll be doing voiceover work for the Great American Bash as well.

“I have something going on every hour. Whether you’re doing some media, whether you’re doing stuff in pretapes. I don’t know when this will air but, I don’t think anyone will be mad. I’m gonna do something for NXT Great American Bash here. I think maybe it’s just a voiceover but, getting ready to do that.”

This isn’t a new concept for NXT because they had Charlotte Flair do the narration for the opening video at NXT Vengeance Day in February of this year as well.

The choice of Cody Rhodes lending his voice to a show called The Great American Bash makes sense as well since his late father Dusty Rhodes is the one that came up with The Great American Bash name. The first Great American Bash event took place in 1985 with Dusty beating Tully Blanchard for the TV Title in the Steel Cage Match main event.

What Is Next For Cody Rhodes In WWE?

While NXT presents The Great American Bash this Sunday night, the WWE main roster will put on a massive SummerSlam event with 40,000+ fans in attendance at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, August 5th. Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against his cousin Jey Uso while Seth “Freakin” Rollins will try to beat Finn Balor again to keep the World Heavyweight Championship.

Cody Rhodes will be in action at SummerSlam as well as he faces Brock Lesnar for the third time this year. Cody beat Brock at Backlash, then Brock got the win back at Night of Champions three weeks later. Their third match will see who wins the rivalry that has become very personal and intense.
