Cody Rhodes Threatened Following His Massive Dig On WWE SmackDown
Cody Rhodes took a shot at a retired wrestler on WWE SmackDown, and that wrestler has responded.
The opening segment on WWE SmackDown in St. Louis had a surprising twist as sports talk show host Pat McAfee returned to WWE television and aligned himself with Randy Orton in his rivalry with the WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
During his promo explaining why he was giving advice to Orton, McAfee claimed that today’s WWE is softer than what he grew up with in the Attitude Era and other eras. It led to Orton beating up Rhodes while McAfee spoke for several minutes.
Later in the show, Rhodes returned and attacked Kit Wilson with a Cross Rhodes after a match.
Cody Rhodes then went on the microphone to deliver a scathing promo against Orton and McAfee, while also referencing the famous NWO formation angle of 1996, and took a shot at the Disco Inferno while doing so.
“We got all dressed up in St. Louis tonight to find out who Randy Orton was talking to on the phone. And color me surprised, it was Pat McAfee. That’s like if Scott Hall and Kevin Nash talked about the third man in the nWo, and instead of Hulk Hogan, it was Disco Inferno.”
Disco Inferno was a WCW midcard wrestler in the late 1990s who was never pushed to the main-event level but was featured on television consistently over the years.
Cody Rhodes Receives A Warning From Disco Inferno
While Disco Inferno is a retired wrestler, he is part of the business because he co-hosts the Keepin’ It 100 podcast with AAA Hall of Famer Konnan.
In response to what Cody said, Disco went on Twitter/X and wrote this:
If I catch @CodyRhodes on Old canton Rd when I go back to visit my mom, that boy might get a good ol’ fashion Marietta tushy kickin’

It’s certainly possible that Disco is making a joke there, but in the wrestling business, you never know for sure.
In 2018, Cody Rhodes went on X/Twitter and trashed Disco Inferno as well, so there is likely some legit animosity there.
