Cody Rhodes Drops A Bombshell On WWE Heel Turn
The current WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes opened up on a potential heel run in the near future.
Ever since his WWE return in 2022, Cody Rhodes has been one of the biggest babyfaces in the company. Fans rallied behind him when he was trying to finish his story, and he eventually did by capturing the title at WrestleMania 40. During his feud with John Cena last year, Cody stayed a babyface, as Cena had to turn heel. The same happened during his feud with Randy Orton this year.
Many fans have been asking for a heel turn for Cody Rhodes for quite some time now, and are also excited about the idea of him being a bad guy. Meanwhile, Cody himself opened up on the possibility.
Cody Rhodes on the possibility of turning heel in the WWE
Speaking on his What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast, Cody Rhodes addressed the people asking him when he will turn heel and said he will when it’s required at some point:
I think that’s one of the things too where, like, people ask all the time, ‘When are you gonna turn heel?’ And it’s like, if that’s what the role requires at some point, sure. But right now, I get to just be me”
Cody further opened up on being himself and admitted that he may turn heel if the story goes in a different direction:
And sometimes being me means making a decision that maybe gets booed. Sometimes it means making a decision that gets cheered. But I’m not gonna suddenly start acting like something I’m not just because somebody online thinks that’s the move. I’ve really enjoyed just getting to be myself in this run. And if eventually the story goes a different direction, then okay, that’s part of wrestling. But for now, I’m good with where I’m at”
Rhodes concluded that fans like it when they don’t know the direction, and he is open to any direction:
Fans love when they don’t know the direction… I’ve been really bullish and really absolute, saying, ‘Oh, I don’t think there’s a heel turn for me at any point, and I’m against it.’ But at this point, I don’t believe that at all. I’m really open to all paths and avenues. I make the choices that I make, that I was raised to make, and I play myself when I’m out there—but you can’t really call this one and the direction it goes,” Cody stated. [H/T Ringside News]
Cody Rhodes on potentially turning heel and what his heel persona would be like…
“My version of a heel is just way too… I wouldn’t have music, the song would be gone, the entrance would be gone. I’d try to get myself canceled. Never say never.”
