Cody Rhodes Becoming 10-Time WWE Champion Depends On One Condition
On Friday, Cody Rhodes became a 3-time WWE Champion.
His championship match against Drew McIntyre was announced following the latter’s attack on Rhodes at the Elimination Chamber PLE on February 28.
SmackDown GM Nick Aldis got tired of McIntyre’s shenanigans, which were aimed at preventing Rhodes from becoming the #1 contender for his title.
Aldis then finalized a title match between them for the March 6 episode of the blue brand.
In the closing minutes, The Scottish Warrior tried to get himself disqualified by using a steel chair. However, Jacob Fatu arrived and pulled away the chair from him.
McIntyre went for the Claymore Kick but missed. Rhodes then hit a cutter and followed it up with a Cross Rhodes for the victory.
As a result, Rhodes will head into WrestleMania 42 as the Undisputed WWE Champion and defend his title against Randy Orton, who became the challenger by winning the Elimination Chamber match.
What Is Stopping Cody Rhodes From Becoming A 10-Time WWE Champion?
Cody Rhodes’s rise in the wrestling world is nothing short of exemplary.
After quitting the company in 2016, Rhodes reinvented himself and even became a key figure in the setting up of All Elite Wrestling.
He returned to WWE in 2022 with a much better reputation than when he left. So, he was immediately included in high-profile storylines and continues to remain one of the top faces in the company.
During the Notsam Wrestling podcast, host Sam Roberts addressed a user query that asked if he saw Cody Rhodes become a 10-time champion.
Roberts mentioned that it could happen, but the 40-year-old star would have to continue wrestling for another decade.
I think that’s possible. But I think, Cody has said his next contract could be his last contract. I think a lot of people say that…10 is a lot starting now, but I think it’s possible.
I’d love to see Cody. If Cody’s around for the next decade, then he could absolutely be at 11, 12, whatever it is. [1:11: 16 onwards]
