CM Punk could be out of action for longer than previously thought following the news of a recent surgery.

Former two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk continues to dominate headlines. ‘The Voice of The Voiceless’ was everything but, following his victory over Jon Moxley during this past weekend’s All Out pay-per-view. Punk took part in the event’s post-show media scrum and didn’t pull any punches when addressing his colleagues. Punk would first take aim at longtime friend and Ring Of Honor colleague, Colt Cabana before turning his attention to the likes of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page as well as Kenny Omega, Matt, and Nick Jackson of The Elite.

Following his controversial remarks, Punk engaged in what can only be called a whirlwind of a backstage brawl against the aforementioned members of The Elite. However, the scuffle reportedly also involved a number of AEW employees and talent in the form of Ace Steel, Christopher Daniels, Brandon Cutler, Michael Nakazawa, and Pat Buck.

AEW President Tony Khan officially vacated Punk’s AEW World Title as well as The Elite’s World Trios Titles on the September 7 episode of Dynamite.

In the most recent update provided by Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Punk suffered a triceps injury during his title match with Jon Moxley in the pay-per-view’s main event:

“CM Punk underwent surgery earlier this week for the torn left triceps he suffered when doing the tope early in the Jon Moxley match. That is usually about an eight month recovery period. His doctor recommended surgery right away to prevent any muscle atrophy.”
