CM Punk Picks Surprising WWE Match As Best Of His Career

CM Punk

CM Punk has named a match from WWE Raw as the best match of his career.

During his legendary WWE career that lasted from 2006 to early 2014 and picked up again in November 2023 until the present day, CM Punk has had a lot of matches that stand out with wrestling fans.

While CM Punk is always going to be remembered as one of the greatest talkers ever, he’s also very skilled when it comes to having great matches.

John Cena has been one of the best opponents in Punk’s WWE career. Their match at Money in the Bank 2011 is legendary, but Punk thinks another match they had is the best match of his career.

On the February 25th, 2013 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, John Cena put his WrestleMania 29 WWE Title opportunity against The Rock on the line against the former WWE Champion CM Punk.

The two future Hall of Famers went on to have a legendary match that is remembered for Punk hitting a piledriver during the match, which is a move that was banned in WWE at the time unless it was being done by The Undertaker or Kane.

CM Punk Considered Raw Match With John Cena As His WrestleMania Main Event

In an interview with Metro, CM Punk talked about his mindset going into the match while saying that he did what he wanted in the match.

“I had the flu, I had a fever, and I was just f***ing angry. I said ‘Well, this is the main event of WrestleMania. I know you guys are doing that, but that’s what this is.’

So nobody could tell me anything, I did what I wanted. That’s probably the best match in my career. There was just an energy, and there was a buzz in the building. I think part of that is because I was just fuelled by anger at that point in my career. It got me out of bed.”

While CM Punk didn’t get to main event WrestleMania during his first WWE run, he will main event WrestleMania 41 against Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Saturday on April 19th in Las Vegas.
