CM Punk is back in WWE after spending nearly a decade away and Mick Foley has shared what Punk told him at the time.

At WWE Survivor Series, CM Punk made his triumphant return to WWE and he received one of the loudest ovations in history from his hometown fans in Chicago.

Since making his return at Survivor Series, Punk has made his presence felt on Raw, SmackDown and even at the NXT Deadline PLE as well. On the December 11th edition of Raw, CM Punk decided to sign with the Raw brand, so that will be his exclusive WWE home moving forward.

That episode of Raw took place in Cleveland, Ohio in the same building where Punk quit WWE just one day after the 2014 Royal Rumble.

While speaking WWE’s The Bump, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley revealed what CM Punk told him after leaving WWE in January 2014.

“I remember getting a text from Punk when he left after the Rumble [in 2014]. He was upset, and he and I were pretty close back then. He said, ‘I’ve realized the only way to really make it there, to earn your respect, is to go somewhere else, and then come back.’ He did.”

“It was what, nine years ago? Ten years next month. He’s bigger than ever. No denial of his talent, and that he is going to raise people. People are going to want to not only hang with him, but whether they realize it or not, impress him, and that’s how levels get raised.”

CM Punk Will Wrestle At Upcoming WWE Live Events

As for when CM Punk will wrestle again in WWE, the company announced that Punk will wrestle Dominik Mysterio at a December 26th live event in New York City and also on December 30th in Inglewood/Los Angeles, California.

It has also been reported that Punk has been spending time at the WWE Performance Center on December 12th and 13th because he was helping younger talent in the company.
