CM Punk has already started his movie career, and he hopes to cross paths with a certain WWE legend in Hollywood.

Filmmaker James Gunn is in charge of the newly rebooted DCU (Formerly DCEU) superhero movie franchise, and one DC movie he directed was The Suicide Squad (2021), which featured WWE Legend John Cena’s star turn as The Peacemaker.

With Gunn having directed the latest Superman movie, which was also a DCU entrant, Warner Bros has many DCU movies coming up. John Cena’s Peacemaker character made a small cameo in Gunn’s Superman film and is sure to play a big part in the upcoming DCU projects.

Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has also begun starring in movies, most notably in the horror/thriller Night Patrol and Netflix comedy The Bodyguard. He has recently said that he would like to work with Cena in the DCU at some point in the future.

CM Punk Wishes To Reunite With John Cena In Hollywood

Punk, who had a memorable rivalry with Cena when both wrestlers were in their prime in WWE, is all in for working with the WWE Legend once again.

In an interview with MovieWeb, CM Punk was asked if acting with Cena in the DCU would excite him. Punk responded with interest and feels it’s inevitable.

Oh, I would be a fool to say it didn’t. You know, I think me and John are going to work together again. I don’t know when. I don’t know where. I don’t know for who.

He then made the analogy of director James Gunn being like a wrestling booker.

James Gunn is like a booker, right? He’s going to have a vision for certain characters and certain people. If I ever fit one of those visions, man, I’ll do what I can to make sure I can secure the role.

To work with John in that capacity would kind of be a dream.

CM Punk’s next WWE assignment is to defend his World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, January 19th, against Finn Balor.
