Chris Jericho had a very different idea about what he wanted his ring name to be, he reveals.

Chris Jericho is a name that is synonymous with wrestling and pop culture. Jericho is a wrestler known for reinventing himself and has done so countless times over the years, something that has helped him maintain relevance to date.

Although he has nicknames such as Y2J, The King of the World, and the Jeritron 6000, it’s hard to imagine his actual ring name as something other than Chris Jericho.

The iconic wrestler recently revealed in an interview what he originally wanted his ring name to be.

Chris Jericho Wanted To Be Called Jack Action

Jericho is also the lead singer for the rock band Fozzy. He is a rock music enthusiast and recalls wanting the name Jack Action, which was a song by the heavy metal band W.A.S.P.

Jericho revealed in an interview with loadedworld.com that he even practiced his autograph for Jack Action until his trainer saw it and called it out.

Ah, there was a W.A.S.P. song called Jack Action and I thought that would be such a cool name. I used to practice my autograph on a book, and the guy I was training with saw the name, ‘Jack Action’, complete with the star at the end, like Paul Stanley from Kiss used to do at the end of his autograph.

The guy said, ‘Jack Action? Is that going to be your name? ’Cause that’s stupid.’

This blunt criticism of the name from his trainer forced Jericho to immediately reconsider. He then turned to another heavy metal group Helloween who have a song called Walls of Jericho. Luckily for Jericho, the cassette tape was sitting in his car at the time.

There’s a Helloween song called Walls Of Jericho, and the cassette tape happened to be sitting in my car at the time. So I said, ‘Chris Jericho. Is that a good name?’ He agreed it was much better.

“Chris Jericho” would go on to become one of the most well-known wrestling names across the world and Chris himself would wrestle in all major promotions at the highest level.
