Chris Jericho Wants To Retire In WWE, Says Top AEW Name

Chris Jericho WWE Point

There is still no sign of Chris Jericho on WWE TV, but this WWE Legend believes he will return and retire there.

Chris Jericho’s return to WWE programming has been heavily speculated over the past few months, with rumours and easter eggs of his possible return running rampant on the internet.

Jericho made his final appearance on AEW TV in April 2025, and his AEW contract expired in December 2025. The WWE and AEW star also fronts the rock band Fozzy and is currently on tour with them.

Legendary AEW and former WWE announcer Jim Ross predicted that Jericho would return at Royal Rumble 2026, but it wasn’t to be.

Jim Ross Says Chris Jericho Would Want To Retire In WWE

Jim Ross (JR) recently said on an episode of Grilling JR that he had only guessed that Chris Jericho would return at the Rumble and had no real insider information. JR admitted that although he guessed wrong on this occasion, he feels that Chris Jericho will want to end his career in WWE, the place that made him a worldwide star.

JR also noted that the reason for his return will not be big paychecks.

I guessed wrong. I saw a clip on that online that you know, JR, what do you think? Well, I thought he was going to be there, and I didn’t. I said I didn’t have any inside information, and I wasn’t lying the truth.

I don’t know. It just seemed like it made sense. I think there are so many alleged surprises that they may have thought that adding Jericho to that mix would be a little daunting.

I’m assuming he’ll be in the lineup sooner than later, because at his age and at his experience level, he’s, what are his other options if he wants to stay on TV and in the business and make a good buck? I don’t think him going to WWE is a matter over paychecks. I think he wants to end his career in wrestling in WWE that’s not where it started.

JR admitted that Jericho’s leaving would be a major loss to AEW, a place that Y2J helped build from its inception.

That’s the big loss for AEW. Jericho was a major player that is part of the foundation, fabric of AEW. I personally, as a fan, hate to see him leave, but you know, we can check out the tube and watch him on television.
