Chris Jericho Takes Subtle Shot At Triple H Amid WWE Return Rumors
Chris Jericho recently took a sly dig at WWE boss Triple H.
Currently, there is no confirmation about Jericho’s AEW in-ring return, with some reports having claimed in the past that he will return to his former promotion.
Nevertheless, the 55-year-old remains contracted with All Elite Wrestling. Amid his absence, the Canadian wrestler recently spoke about longevity in the wrestling business.
While some have urged him to retire, Chris Jericho believes that he has a few years in him as an active wrestler.
Before joining AEW, Jericho had multiple stints with World Wrestling Entertainment under Vince McMahon and briefly competed in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he won the IWGP Intercontinental Championship once.
In WWE, he was a 6-time major singles champion while also holding several mid-card championships several times.
Chris Jericho Takes Shot At Triple H
Chris Jericho debuted in WWE when Triple H was gaining momentum to become one of the biggest heels in the company.
Over the years, he repackaged himself in new gimmicks that he would play on live TV.
During an interview with GamesHub recently, he narrated an incident wherein he hoped to pitch Vince McMahon a storyline involving Bray Wyatt, The Wyatt Family, and Shawn Michaels, believing that it was SummerSlam-worthy.
While talking about it, he also took a shot at Triple H, who he revealed was in Vince McMahon’s office when he went there to pitch the idea.
I had one really great idea for Vince that I still think about. The timing going in was off — when I walked into his office, Triple H was there, which is never ideal because you want to be one on one with Vince. And then on top of that, he hadn’t eaten yet, and when Vince is eating, he’s not paying attention to anything else.
It was a really solid pitch. But Vince just sat there eating his steak, and when I finished he said, ‘Bad cow.’ I said, ‘What?’ He goes, ‘Bad cow — the steak is tough.’ I said, what do you think of my pitch? He goes, ‘What else you got?’ The steak killed the whole angle. But that’s the nature of working for Vince — if he doesn’t like it, you’re done. [H/T: Ringside News]
The pitch never saw the light of day, with Chris Jericho blaming the quality of the steak McMahon was eating on that eventful day.
