Chris Jericho Challenged By Former ROH Champion After AEW Dynamite Comments

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho challenged all former Ring Of Honor champions on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, stating that he was the greatest ROH champion of all time. Well, the open challenge has been accepted, with former ROH World Champion Davey Richards stepping up to the plate.

Last week at Grand Slam, Jericho took the victory over Claudio Castagnoli to win the ROH World Championship, making him an eight-time world champion overall. This past Wednesday, Jericho would retain the belt after defeating Bandido.

After the match, Chris Jericho said he intends on destroying the legacy of Ring Of Honor by taking out every former ROH champion, commentator, ring announcer and referee, followed by a challenge to Bryan Danielson for an October 12 match on Dynamite. Closing out the show, Jericho then attacked Bobby Cruise, the Ring Of Honor ring announcer.

This then led to Davey Richards, who was ROH World Champion for a total of 321 days in 2011 and 2012, taking to Twitter to state that he wants a match with Jericho.

“What do ya say @ringofhonor and @IAmJericho ? Let’s crack open that Forbidden door? #richardsvsjericho”

Richards has had a very successful career that’s lasted for nearly 20 years now, wrestling in Ring Of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling, MLW and NJPW over his 18-year span, both in the singles division and tag team division with Eddie Edwards who made up The Wolves.

With Chris Jericho’s challenge to Danielson, they squared off at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view earlier this month – Jericho would win the match. However, a rematch would take place between the two later in the month at Grand Slam, with Danielson taking the victory.
