Chris Jericho Reacts To AEW Making Winnipeg Debut

Chris Jericho has commented on AEW making their debut in his hometown of Winnipeg in 2023.

For the second time, AEW will be going to Canada. The first AEW show outside of the United States took place on October 12th when Dynamite was in Toronto. It was a night when Chris Jericho defeated Bryan Danielson to retain the AEW World Title while Orange Cassidy beat Pac to become the AEW All-Atlantic Champion.

In 2023, AEW will be back in Canada this time in the hometown of two of their biggest stars. Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega both grew up in Omega while Omega’s AEW manager Don Callis is also from Winnipeg, so it makes a lot of sense for the company to go there for their second AEW show.

Jericho did a promo to hype ticket sales for AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg for a special Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 episode of AEW’s main TV show.

“I can’t believe it. This is going to be the biggest wrestling show of the decade: I’m going to be there, Kenny Omega is going to be there, Don Callis is going to be there. There’d be no AEW without Winnipeg.”

“The entire city’s going to come out in droves to see me, their biggest hero.”

As many wrestling fans may recall, Jericho famously shouted his Winnipeg pride towards a fan during a WWE event that told him to go back to Toronto. Jericho replied: “I’m from Winnipeg, you idiot!”

This Saturday, December 10th at ROH Final Battle, Jericho will defend his ROH World Title against the former champion Claudio Castagnoli. If Claudio loses, he must join the Jericho Appreciation Society group.
