BREAKING: AEW Champion Survives Huge Scare On Dynamite
It was a huge night on AEW Dynamite, with four title matches scheduled by Tony Khan as he looks to continue towards the promotion’s biggest event of the year, Double or Nothing.
The first match of the night saw MJF take on Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship, and shockingly, he failed to dethrone Knight as the champion, continuing his bad luck in the promotion.
The second title match of the night saw Don Callis Family member, Kazuchika Okada, put his AEW International Title on the line against the Bang Bang Gang’s Ace Austin.
Kazuchika Okada escapes with the AEW International Championship
The veteran Okada was firmly in control of the match against Austin, putting on a dominant display to defend his International Championship, which he has held for the past 287 days.
Austin tried everything in his arsenal to get back into the title match and got in some solid offence on Kazuchika Okada. He escaped the Rainmaker to reverse it into a Jacknife Cover and almost got the win over the veteran wrestler.
That seemed like a wake-up call for the champion, and he hit him with a vicious dropkick before hitting a Tombstone Piledriver on Austin. He then followed that up with a Rainmaker to get the win and retain his title.
