A former world champion left the arena after officially bidding goodbye on WWE RAW.

Asuka feuded with IYO SKY for several months before the two ladies clashed last Saturday at Backlash. After failing to defeat The Genius of the SKY, The Empress of Tomorrow turned babyface and embraced her former Damage CTRL teammate.

The 10-time champion also waved to the crowd and blew them a kiss, seemingly signaling her departure. Following the show, reports suggested the 44-year-old had semi-retired, while others claimed she was heading to Japan for personal reasons.

Asuka Shares An Emotional Moment With IYO SKY On WWE RAW

Tonight on RAW, Asuka made a surprising appearance in a backstage segment with IYO SKY. After hugging her former rival, The Empress of Tomorrow told SKY that she was looking for someone to take over her position, and she had finally become that person.

Asuka noted that she was proud of SKY and glad to have her as her successor. The Genius of the Sky responded that they would always be family, even when they sometimes fight.

SKY then bid goodbye to Asuka before the latter embraced her and left the arena.

SKY: Goodbye Asuka-san!

Asuka: See you later!
