Booker T Wants Ex-WWE Star To “Shut His Mouth”
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has commented on the future prospects of an ex-WWE star and thinks it’d be better if he “shut his mouth.”
Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush caused a stir recently when he hinted towards a return to WWE given the recent change of management in the company.
Rush previously competed in the company but found more success as a manager for Bobby Lashley on Raw but that partnership was split up after WrestleMania 35 when Rush was taken off television amid rumours that he had backstage heat.
Lio Rush moved to NXT where he captured the Cruiserweight Title but he was released from his WWE contract in 2020. Rush spent a short amount of time in AEW where he was heavily featured on TV to begin with. Things turned sour when Rush took issue with controversial comments made by AEW CEO Tony Khan in response to remarks made by ex-AEW star Big Swole after she had left the company.
Amid all of that Lio Rush has himself declared retirement from wrestling on at least one occasion, only to return to the ring.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T had some advice for Lio Rush and suggests he’ll find success if he keeps his mouth shut:
“I think there’s somebody out there right now that’s knocking on the door, that’s looking to get his foot in the door. Like a Lio Rush. I heard Lio Rush put something out, a cryptic tweet, and Lio Rush may be trying to make a return to the WWE. You know what, that’s got controversy written all over it [Laughs].”
“If Lio Rush can just shut his mouth for a second, he’d be okay. The dude’s a talent. I always say, on social media, you can put your foot in your mouth. And I see this guy is talent. But, sometimes you get to a point and you wonder if you want to deal with somebody because of the social media presence and how outspoken they are on social media. We’ll see.”
