Becky Lynch has opened up about her fears of being fired by WWE boss Vince McMahon after she became pregnant in 2020.

Becky Lynch shocked the world live on Raw when she revealed publicly that she’d be taking time off as she was pregnant. Lynch broke the news to Asuka who had just won the Money In The Bank briefcase and told her that by winning the match, Asuka hadn’t won an opportunity to challenge for the title but had now won Lynch’s Raw Women’s Championship.

But what should have been a happy occasion for Becky Lynch and her now-husband Seth Rollins was clouded by fears for her job.

Writing in her new book, The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl, Becky Lynch described her fears that she might be fired by Vince McMahon after getting pregnant:

How am I going to tell Vince?’ I turned to Colby [Seth Rollins] realizing that beyond our immediate family, the most powerful man in wrestling needed to be the first recipient of our news.

Lynch: “You think he’s gonna yell at me? Fire me?

Rollins: “I don’t think so. But he’ll probably be upset.”

‘I’ll tell him [Vince] I can still keep working. You know, maybe I can… I could make a documentary about this. Or I could maybe be a consultant on the creative team or something?’… I scrambled for ways to save my job.

However, when Becky Lynch made the call to Vince McMahon, she found that instead of being upset he appeared to be thrilled for her:

“I’m calling you because, well, we have a little bit of a problem… Sir, I’m five weeks pregnant and so I was thinking maybe we could…”

“Congratulations! Oh my God Rebecca! That’s fantastic news. Wow! I’m so happy for you!”

Becky Lynch gave birth to her daughter Roux in December 2020 and returned to the ring at SummerSlam 2021 where she immediately won the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair in just 26 seconds.

Becky Lynch will challenge Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40 for the Women’s World Championship and The Man is eyeing up a first for her career at WWE’s showpiece event.
