Bayley Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary With WWE

Congratulations go out to Bayley, who is celebrating ten years of her WWE career today.

It’s been an incredible run for WWE superstar Bayley during her ten-year career. She noted on Twitter that today, January 7th, 2022, is exactly ten years since she has been part of WWE.

Bayley’s real name is Pamela Martinez and she spent about four years as a pro wrestler before signing with WWE when she was just 23 years old. At that time in 2013, Triple H was running the NXT brand and re-shaping it as a force that featured a lot of talented young wrestlers.

Along with Bayley, WWE also had women like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks starting their careers at the same time. That foursome got the nickname of the Four Horsewomen. All of them are multiple-time champions, they are all considered among the best women’s wrestlers in WWE history and likely Hall of Famers some day.

Bayley and Banks really had one of the best women’s rivalries in WWE during their NXT days in 2015. They had a classic NXT Women’s Title match at Takeover Brooklyn in 2015 that is considered by many people to be one of the best women’s matches in WWE history. It’s also the night when Bayley won her first title. The rivalry continued with a 30-Minute Ironman (Ironwoman?) Match that Bayley also won.

The initial run for Bayley in WWE saw her portray a traditional babyface character that was easy to like and was adored by kids, especially. The “Bayley buddies” that were part of her entrance were very kid-friendly and she had a lot of merchandise items aimed at children.

During her run on the WWE main roster, Bayley has accomplished a lot as a two-time Smackdown Women’s Champion and one-time Raw Women’s Champion. Bayley also has by far the longest reign as the Smackdown Women’s Champion when she held it for 379 days from October 2019 to October 2020.

While they wrestled a lot as opponents, Bayley and Banks are also two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions together.

In September 2019, Bayley turned heel (to support Banks in a feud with Becky Lynch) and has remained in that role ever since. That was when she had that long reign as the Smackdown Women’s Champion as well.

Currently, Bayley is a part of the Raw brand and is the leader of the Damage CTRL group that also includes the Women’s Tag Team Champions, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai.
