There is some positive news to report regarding the health of wrestling legend Barry Windham.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Barry Windham suffered a massive heart attack. Windham was in ICU after going into cardiac arrest while in the Atlanta airport. Windham’s niece Mika Rotunda posted this message about what happened.

“With deep sadness, I regret to inform that my uncle, WWE Hall of Famer, Barry Windham suffered a massive heart attack Friday evening. While traveling through the Atlanta airport, his darkest fear became a horrific reality as he went into cardiac arrest. He is currently in the ICU and has undergone an emergency procedure to save his life. As a family, we are impatiently waiting to hear that he will be okay. But as of now, the future is uncertain.”

Barry Windham is the brother-in-law of fellow wrestling legend Mike Rotunda, who was known as Irwin R. Schyster in WWE in the 1990s. Barry is also the uncle of WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt (real name Windham Rotunda) and former (and perhaps future?) WWE superstar Bo Dallas. Bray and Bo’s sister Mika Rotunda posted this update on her uncle’s health:

“Thank you to all who have reached out, prayed, contributed and sent well wishes to my Uncle Barry this week. I wanted to give an update! I’m grateful to say he is stabilized & out of ICU. Talking & able to stand. Thanks again everyone! There absolutely is power in prayer.”

A GoFundMe campaign was started after he suffered a heart attack. The GoFundMe currently sits at over $30,000 raised including some donations from well-known wrestling figures like John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL), Cody Rhodes, Diamond Dallas Page, Scott D’Amore, Ricky Steamboat (Richard Blood), Charles Robinson, Max Caster and many more.

The 62-year-old Windham is a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and two-time WWE Tag Team Champion.

In 2012, Barry Windham was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon.

Everyone at TJRWrestling sends their best wishes to Barry Windham and his family at this difficult time.
