Backstage Frustration Credited As Reason For Drew McIntyre’s Character

Drew McIntyre WWE SmackDown

Drew McIntyre had been trying to get his hands on a world championship for a while. He came extremely close at WrestleMania, but CM Punk took him down, and Damian Priest cashed in the Money in the Bank contract.

Since then, he has been after the gold, and now, he has finally defeated Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match.

With the gold over his shoulder, Drew McIntyre is at the top of the roster and will unleash his wrath on the other top superstars.

Drew McIntyre has blurred the lines between reality and storyline

Previously, reports had revealed that The Scotsman was frustrated with his storylines and how the creative angles for him were developing. In fact, at some points, fans believe McIntyre would quit WWE.

On TMZ’s Sports’ Inside The Ring, David Otunga revealed that McIntyre’s current character has been fuelled by backstage frustration, enabling him to blur the lines between reality and storyline.

I think it’s great. He’s one of my favorite characters. He’s such a, just a nice guy, too. … But I love his character, and I feel like part of it that’s made him so good like this past year is that frustration. That’s real frustration, and he’s bringing that into his character. It’s always the best when like you blur the lines between reality and storyline and right now, Drew is doing that masterfully.
