Drew McIntyre Loses Undisputed WWE Championship Match
Drew McIntyre has been holding the Undisputed WWE Championship for just a week now and is already picking up losses.
The Scotsman defeated Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on the January 9th, 2026 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
McIntyre escaped the steel cage after Jacob Fatu interfered in the match and attacked The American Nightmare.
Drew McIntyre lost the championship match to Cody Rhodes
At a live event in Newcastle, McIntyre put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes. During the match, he noticed that things were not leaning towards him and decided to use sly means to get disqualified.
He hit Rhodes with a Low Blow, leading to the match ending abruptly. Cody Rhodes was awarded the victory via disqualification, but Drew McIntyre held on to the title.
The American Nightmare put The Scotsman through the table and held the title over him, making the promise that he will win it back.
Speculations claim that Cody Rhodes will win the Royal Rumble 2026 and challenge Drew McIntyre for the championship match at WrestleMania 42, especially since WWE seems to have scrapped Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for The Grandest Stage of All.
