Asuka recently teased a possible departure from WWE at Backlash, and since then, questions about her contract status have surfaced online.
The Empress of Tomorrow faced her former Damage CTRL partner, Iyo Sky, in a singles match on May 9. During the bout, she attempted to use her signature blue mist to gain the upper hand, but Sky countered and later hit her Over the Moonsault to secure the win.
After the match, the two shared an emotional moment, hugging and kissing in a show of mutual respect. Asuka was also seen waving goodbye to the crowd, which fueled speculation about her future with the company.
Following the event, Asuka posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself with a song playing in the background, further adding to the speculation around her status.
Asuka’s WWE Deal Reportedly Set To Continue Until Summer 2029
However, a new report from Fightful Select suggests otherwise.
According to the report, Asuka signed a new long-term deal with WWE in the summer of 2024. While the exact length of the contract wasn’t confirmed, most deals signed during that period were reportedly for five years.
Based on that, her current contract could run through the summer of 2029, indicating that she may not be leaving WWE anytime soon despite the recent speculation.
The recent Fightful report also noted that people backstage are confused about Asuka’s WWE situation, and many believe that she will wrestle in WWE again.
