AJ Styles Tipped For Surprising WWE Role After In-Ring Retirement

AJ Styles WWE

WWE analyst Sam Roberts wants AJ Styles to take on a new role in WWE.

On a recent edition of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts went in-depth discussing the events of the Royal Rumble and what lies ahead on the road to WrestleMania 42.

He commented on AJ Styles’ retirement at Royal Rumble, stating that he truly believes Styles is finished with his in-ring career.

AJ Styles Could Become The Next WWE NXT General Manager

Roberts then predicted what could be next for AJ Styles in WWE, suggesting that NXT currently has an open position for a general manager and that Styles would be a perfect fit for the role.

He added that AJ Styles running the NXT show alongside Shawn Michaels could take the developmental brand to a whole new level.

Roberts said:

“I heard there’s an opening for the general manager now. AJ Styles for NXT general manager. I’m putting it out there. I don’t actually believe that, but there’s a lot that he could do.

Triple H was even hinting at the idea of him possibly becoming a coach on the post-show, but if NXT down there is run by Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles, I mean, forget it. Forget it.” (From 1:00:48)

The Rock’s daughter, Ava, previously served as the WWE NXT General Manager before announcing her departure on January 30, 2026, via Instagram.

Ava released an official statement explaining that she is at a “new turning point” in her career and therefore decided not to renew her contract after a six-year tenure with the promotion.
